Are You Trying to Sell a Black and White World?
The reality of financial planning is that it's about being less wrong tomorrow. People sort of live and die by the certainty sword, right? If you're selling a black and white world and people encounter a shade of gray, they're thrown very hard when they encounter that shade of gray. So I think advisors have to wrestle with what's the appropriate amount of guidance or forecasting to give my clients such that they won't feel like they're just hanging out in outer space.
