How to Retain Knowledge Over Time

All of our educational systems seem to be focused on acquisition right and I think it's questionable that they even do a good job at that but none of them focus on the retention part so I feel like building knowledge is um you need both you need the acquisition and you need the retention over time. We never focus on retention I don't remember I can't recall even one episode where we were told good techniques for retaining information over the long term that weren't just absurd like cramming or whatever.
