The Importance of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was signed after the First World War. The German army was reduced to just 100,000 personnel. It was forbidden from having technology like tanks, aircraft, and heavy artillery. A large demilitarized zone had to be maintained in the territories along the Rhine River. There were many mistakes made at the conference. Russian payments would never match what was hoped. In France, the years after the war would hold only disappointment.
