Adaptability of the Brain
The more neurons are recruited, the more able they are to then do some of the work that neurons that were killed off used to do. There is a very interesting experiment that was done with a group of college students in which they were blindfolded for a week. And after only one week, the brain cells in the occipital lobes of these students, in the back of their brain that once were receiving input only from the eye, are now all receiving input from the finger tips. It really indicates, oh my goodness, we can recruit brain cells that used to do one thing, and now we can recruit them to do other things, as long as we practise over and over
