There are two main sensory systems that provide us with imput. They help our brain get to that just right state. propriaceptive imputs give people the most bang for their buck. You've probably heard about weighted blankets that gives you some pressure in the muscles. And maybe you've heard of little kids who need help with regulation. Their occupational theripus may suggest they do heavy work. That heavy work gives them pressue in the joints.
