He says people who are good at delaying gratification may be just really good at finding alternative ways of being satisfied in the moment. The ultimate outcome that you gain weight in two weeks or two months is unfavorable; with good habits, it's the reverse. For example, if you want to go to bed now, then maybe there's a little bit of a sacrifice there because you don't get another task done on your list.
