The Appeal of the Flat Earth Theory

Flat Earth is a conspiracy theory that invites people to knock down all the facts they previously held and replace them with new information. The idea of infinitely expanding outer space, which flatters don't believe in, was frightening to one Flat Earther. She felt small both literally and theologically in that sense. One thing that I found in talking to a lot of Flat Earthers is they found that the theory is actually comforting to them.
