Mary and Mel have been working on projects around the revitalization of the Ojibwe language. They argue that instead of seeing indigenous languages as dying objects it's better to think of them as living relatives. Mary: Language is not just a code like you said it's a relative. What do you do with your relative? You care for your relative. Relatives look out for you and relatives help you hold memory. That's just a totally different way of seeing language.
