I know I have loved hearing you talk about this and I know everyone that's listening will too. So I really appreciate you sharing that story. How about let's do one more with the role. This is a really interesting one. Brian asked about transgenderism and he wonders if transgenderism results from distorted thoughts and he writes you. Hi David.
Speaker 1
But you're skipping the second question. Oh,
Speaker 2
this. Oh yes. Mark's second question. Yeah. Yes. The successful. How do you respond to your supervisor during performance reviews?
Speaker 1
Yeah. Okay. How do you? Well, if you get criticized, you respond with a spoken and disarming and inquiry and we can we can roleplay that. The idea is not to get defensive when your supervisor criticizes you, but to make your supervisor feel good about having criticized you. You be my supervisor and give me some criticism on my movements. David, I really have to talk to you.
Speaker 2
There are times when the work you turn in is just stellar, but you come in late. Almost every single day to this job, and we start at 8 o 'clock sharp, and you kind of stroll in between 8 .30 and 9, and that's just really unacceptable.
Speaker 1
it's painful to hear that for two reasons. First, you're right. But second, I admire you so much. It's painful for me to be letting you down. So I'm going to make that number one on my priority list to get in shape and get with the crew here because this is an incredibly efficient organization and that's so important to the work that we do. But let me ask you a question. What are some of the other things that I've done that have kind of you off or haven't been up to speed because I really want to learn from you. To be honest, you're one of my heroes.
Speaker 2
If you just get here on time, I like everything else that you do. I appreciate all your other, I appreciate your work ethic and you always turn in really good reports and our clients
Speaker 1
really relate well to you. And, but please keep letting me know if there's anything, other things I should do to change, because I'm not here just to earn a paycheck, but to grow technically and emotionally as well. So I just so much appreciate your feedback. Okay.
Speaker 2
That was just incredible. I'm laughing because somebody told me that once. And I was and I this was way before a new team therapy. And I responded like, well, if you don't like becoming in late, I work at lunch. And I come and I take work home and you don't know that you should be grateful that you have me on your staff or some version of that. That did not go over very well.
Speaker 1
Yeah, right. Exactly. Exactly. Yeah, it's all about being other centered, rather than defensive and having the death of yourself and listen to criticism and appreciate it. Let's now, we have one last question, which is a real quickie, kind of a cool question, but quick answer. Okay.
