The Role of the Ritual Imaginal in the Art of Art
The way we're talking about the aesthetic here is deeply opposed to sort of the post enlightenment tradition of taking the aesthetic up as the thing in itself that we have a disinterested relationship to. It's right that the imaginal plays a special role or renewed role where there's the context of creative intercultural exchanges. And I think you're quite right about the way in which the representations demonstrate the states needed for the ritual enactments, and also sometimes the content of the representations that are pointing toward the states are taken from ritual enactments and esoteric or social rituals.
