Researchers John Darley and Daniel Batson wanted to see how compassionate people would act if they were short on time. In the study, a group of seminar students were tasked with presenting the parable of the Good Samaritan. Despite these students literally about to give a presentation on the importance of helping strangers, most of them didn't stop to help.
