Lydiard introduced 100 mile weeks of what we call today high end or aerobic threshold running as the precursor before other blocks of train. Igloy had Bob Schul and those guys do 90 minutes at a very slow oxidative recovery pace, then come back mid-morning, late morning for a flux style workout on the track. And so you see the same effect with Bob Schul closing 37 in the Tokyo five-key on cinders, which is insane.
