Teachers often stop what the kids were doing in learning to learn lessons and then say, how does what we're doing today relate to how you learn in French or art or P.E. The second part that I've been a long time advocate for is actually working with students to construct what I might call mental tools or strategic tools. Here are a set of metacognitive questions for critical thinking: What's the source? Might it be biased? Is it accurate? Is it complete? What other perspectives should I consider? These are metac cognitive questions that a critical thinker can and should apply to any situation that involves critical thinking.
