Demazio says that it's the entire organism rather than the body alone or the brain alone, that interacts with the environment. This has radical implications for the study of politics and society. How decisions people make aren't simply rational and calculative, but based on these somatic markers. I'll return to what this means for Descartes' mind-body duality, but also look at some political consequences.
