Is There a Safety Memory in Your Brain That Predicts Disaster?
When you're afraid of something the hypothesis is you have this kind of like fear memory in your brain and whenever you contact it or anything that is related to it Or predicts it might happen. Your brain has a natural mechanism by which it creates a safety memory. It learns. Okay, the things that I thought predicted disaster don't actually predict disaster. And if it doesn't then you kind of your brain is like, oh like there's a new thing I'm surprised. One of the one of the big emphases for exposure therapy is on surprise. The greater the surprise the more likely it is that you're gonna learn. These are the things that we all develop when we're like infants
