This research took a series of, I think it was women who just received a cancer diagnosis. It categorized whether they were stoical about it or combative. And the tragedy of it is that that explanatory style did appear to have a relationship with the outcomes. The people who'd catastrophized or been defeated were far less likely to be alive.
