I remember teaching my daughter how to use the baby gate at one point because we had a dog and I did want the gate there for the dog, but she was old enough where I wanted her to be able to open the gate. So it's not just that they want something or they want attention. They're actually trying to relieve some negative state. And those rewards in this case were just saying, oh, great job or, you know, communicating positivity.
