One of the biggest mistakes that pop culture does is they conflate causation and correlation. Red wine research is a really good example of that because we've seen an evolution in conventional wisdom here. Drinking two glasses of red wine a day is correlated with higher socioeconomic status. It's those traits that really are associated that are causative to living longer.
