Finding Good Safety Indicators
Drue: This study confirms something really fundamental about finding good safety indicators. If you take action in response to any of your indicators, if you see an indicator and you do something about it, that automatically interferes with the relationships between the indicators. The only way to find out what's a good indicator is to go hands off and let the accidents happen. Drue: These supposed leading indicators don't simply drive safety outcomes, but they also drive these changes in activity.
