Wearing a cap will also slightly reduce your exposure to overhead light. Having lamps low in the environment is going to help reduce any overhead light that could shut down your body synthesis of melatonin. For shift workers, I actually think they probably need to be slightly more attentive when it comes to light in the bedroom and noise too.
