There's a ton of literature showing the calcium ion accumulation causes damage, but this is the one that kind of just sort of pivots as between the two possibilities. The amount of post-workout fatigue scales pretty nicely with those contraction durations. And so ultimately, we're increasing the amount of fatigue we're generating with these longer duration contractions. But like 90% of the contraction is operating at 5% of maximal force.
