A Ulysses contract is a freely made decision that binds us in the future. It's not just eat or don't eat the cake, it can be more interestingly complicated than that. What I always do when there's a dessert put in front of me is I have a couple of bites. And then in the moment before I get weak, I pour table salt all over the cake to drown out the siren songs.
