How to Maintain Focus in a 10k

I like to see people doing at least 12 to 14 mile long runs. For that more advanced athlete who's really going for a strong 5k or 10k PR, these are rules of thumb and there are exceptions to every rule. If you're thinking that just because you're doing 5k and 10k training, that you can drop down to six to eight mile long runs, sure, you can do it. You can take that approach, but you are not going to see the gains that you would see if you kept those long run distances up.
