Free Enterprises Hailed It Fair
In 1964, the American Economic Foundation had its biggest coup yet when it hosted that year's World's Fair in New York City. The foundation published a pamphlet called How We Live and sold something like 3 million copies of it during the 1940s and 50s. A representative from the American Steel Workers Union was quoted by the New York Times as noting ruefully that the exhibit completely left out labor.
