A modified ketogenic diet is a much higher protein, closer to 0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight and so much higher than the traditional ketogenic macros for protein. But people might increase their protein wanting to try this modified ketogenic approach and then see that their blood glucose on average in the morning goes up by 10 points. So what's happening there physiologically? "I would argue that we've done those experiments with the food guide pyramid, high carb low protein, versus substituting out protein, higher protein low carb"
