Is Lifting Heavy Good or Bad?

Lifting heavy is a net positive no question about it but I worry about how people approach lifting heavy in terms of like going to failure. In running what is a max effort a race right we rarely train and do max efforts in workouts. We shouldn't be quote unquote racing when we're in the weight room all the time or lifting to failure once a week that would be like racing every single week. All weightlifting whether it's heavy weightlifting body weight weightlifting or potty weight strength training no matter what it is it needs to be in service of your running.
