The number of mechanically ventilated patients in the pilot trial of 2,541 similar to or larger than each of the prior trials. The separation between groups in SPO2 values and FIO2 that was achieved in pilot was comparable to or greater than in many prior trials. There were no differences in any subgroup or any secondary or exploratory outcome.
