Breathing is its own practice in and of itself. If you are over breathing all the time, your body craves all that extra oxygen because you have a really low CO2 tolerance. So we're breathing based on how much CO2 we build up. And so this is called our CO2 tolerance or carbonic drive. It's never that lack of oxygen is a mechanism, but it's one that comes very, very late in the game.
