Control Is an Important Psychological Need We Have as Human Beings

When individuals don't feel as though they have control over their schedules and over their life, things start to unravel really quickly. One of the helpful starting points for this is something that was implemented in Europe a few years ago called the European Working Time Directive. The directive set out various different stipulations for businesses that are based here in Europe. For example, workers are supposed to have a break for at least 20 minutes during shifts than a longer than six hours. And if they're working nights, then they shouldn't do more than eight hours of heavy or dangerous work per 24 hour cycle.
