With any acid-based disorder, first you want to figure out do you have an acidemia or an algalemia. Figure out if you have an anion gap or non-gap acidosis and see if the compensation is appropriate. Check with your subtraction method or your division method for another metabolic disorder. And remember, just always go through these same steps every single time.
