Zionism and the Arabs
In 19 31, weitsman opposed proclaiming a jewish state as the aim of zionism. The seitgeist or at least the zeitgeist of twentieth century central in eastern europe had won out over the jewish tradition. Intolerant, brutal, egotistical nationalism would be unacceptable to jews who had learned to know what it means. In his autobiography, written just a few years after all this takes place, heim weizmann reflected on this transformation with a sophisticated understatement.
