How to Use Carbohydrates to Optimize Performance

When you're training in the base season, you can cut back on those a little bit. You want to avoid pushing yourself towards burnout if you're not getting enough carbohydrates. A low carbohydrate diet actually breaks down or hampers your ability to use carbohydrates even when you start consuming them. When you are in a race and you're at those above threshold intensities, you're relying completely on carbohydrates. So I am going to say that you need those carbohydrates for performance.
