Adolescent Well Being, Is It Necessary to Teach Linear Algebra?

How can we situate ourselves with respect to adolescence, ornig math more widely? Word in research and on the street as well, is that it's not going so well. I'm not so familiar other than my own experience with teaching. So currently i teach college level math. And so i teach high school students. There's the problem that seems to be a cilles hill of students wanting to learn calculus.
