When planning, i often give guidance to the team around what percentage of our time we want to spend on what type of activity. I learned this from gogles classic 70, 20, ten approach where during its fast growth years, google had the 70 % search on ads and 20% aps. So i have found that approach very useful during planning,. But when the team is starting to plan the next quarter, or the next half of the next year, my role as a leader is hopefull y have already clarified the strategy so they have that as an input. And i think just this simple guidance i enables the team to can just do the right thing.
