The Importance of Ritual in Our Society
The importance of ritual over the course of deep history is completely missing from our society in genuine ways. In the past, a man turns 13 and they go on a crazy hunting expedition with the elders of their tribe. Fast forward to frat life: If your bar mitzvah wasn't hard enough, well then you get to join a frat where the ritual is that you get pissed drunk with a bunch of other bros. You could say the same thing for women. The rituals were different but women also had to go through these strenuous rituals and that is no longer.
