I think that as you say, some of us aren't even aware of the inner critic. But there's so many things that we've just taken on board and become lenses through which we think about ourselves but they might not really be our thoughts. So in a way, none of my thoughts are my own because I've learned language and ideas only through other human beings. Not to mention that most of the thoughts you have are repetitive, something like 90, something percent of your thoughts are not original. You've had them the day before. We think we're being original, but we're not.
