How to Maximize Your Willpower
I think that there's kind of an argument in the literature about whether or not willpower is finite. And I think it's probably something like strength, like you might have a genetic predisposition or a genetic ceiling, but you can increase it with training. So if you're maxing out your willpower to complete all of your new behaviors, any obstacle that comes in your path is going to derail everything. Getting to that place where willpower is not the thing that's getting you to do your important behaviors is really critical for making those behaviors sustainable and the goal achievable.
