History of the Carpathian Mountains in Relation to the Black Sea

The carpathian mountains form a wedge shape just to the west of the black sea. This means that any westward moving tribe has to either move northwestward around the north side of the mountain range, or southward underneath it. The usitovo dialect spread up the nista river along the northern side of the Carpathian mountains. It eventually spread into the region where modern day eastern poland and western ukraine meet.
