Cexler: We see this non-consistent defense of weight gain in humans But it's actually a very robust finding in animal models. Overfeeding studies and rats and rodents, which are prey animals,. It makes a lot of sense that you don't want to be carrying around Unnecessary mass when your survival is much more predicated on can you escape a predator? Crexler: The weirdest stuff I've ever gotten into was the rodent models using a blation of different parts of the rat hypothalamus. And so they're interfering with the hypothalamus and its ability to actually Receive and integrate these signals pertaining to the availability of energy.
