Who Should Be Using the Kip?

The kip is when you use a leg swing and a hip snap to propel the body upward. It's done to help get your chin over the bar by dratically decreasing the amount of force that’squi red to produce by the arms and the body for that pulling motion. There's also an advanced variation that we see used in competition called the butterfly pull up, or the butterfly kipping pull up. This one is even more vance because it uses a stretch reflex and momentum to really keep the body moving through the air. The kip should only be used for those athletes that have it in their sport, their competition.
