Skepticism Towards BECCS and Energy Transition

This chapter critically examines the skepticism surrounding technological solutions like Bioenergy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) in addressing climate change. It argues that such technologies are largely theoretical and may displace agricultural land, exacerbating food insecurity, particularly in vulnerable populations. The discussion also highlights the need for immediate action against CO2 emissions while considering the political and economic complexities of transitioning to sustainable energy sources, especially for countries in the Global South.
