The idea of like tricking people into thinking it's their own idea feels a little bit tried to me. I feel like people try to do it and they do it really badly in that backfires. In academia, we're not competing for money. Everyone just gets paid the same thing. Everything is about reputation. And so if you actually go out of your way to make it seem that something is somebody else's idea and then they get some credit for it... It can work, but it can backfire and people don't like to feel manipulated.
