The Relationship Between Haudelkasimi and Okwe
Haudelkasimi profiled Oakwee when she was editing regional art magazine Canvas in 2018. She told me about how when she first saw Oakwee's documentary, 11, it completely blew her away and changed her life in a sense. At the time she had grown up with the Sharjah biennial which was around since 1993 but she only took over much later, I believe, in 2002. And so why don't we have a documentary like that here, you know, in the region, in Sharjah, in the Gulf, in the UAE or in the Global South?
