The Confusion Between the Idea of Life and the Objects That Exhibit It

Anastasia: I find it fascinating that you seem to think that life is something that exists independently of the structures that implement it. It's almost as if your ideas, your concepts that you form by observing lots of things are breaking free from your observations and developing an inner life. Are you sure that you should leave them off the leash because the life that you're talking about is ultimately always bound to observations that you made? Anastasia: Well, yeah, because you say that it's not possible for a cell that can't conceptualize itself to have a desire. But I suspect that there are cells which are rather dumb and quite mechanical in their interaction with the world.
