If your uric acid is greater than seven or milligrams per deciliter, which is about 420 micromolar like in Australia, that's associated with significant increased risk for obesity, diabetes, fatty liver and hypertension. It increases the risk for dementia, it increases the risk of many, many things. But when you do clinical studies where you lower uric acid, you tend to improve things like blood pressure a little bit, insulin resistance. Even weight gain can be like studies in adolescents show that it can reduce weight gain to some extent.
