Running Marathons - How to Build a Strong Base
During the build phase, we really want to make sure we're building training volume. Higher level athletes might focus on speed as well but it's very difficult to get round the marathon if you've not got those miles in your training. During peak mileage, we want to try and help them manage symptoms and fatigue at this point. Having a plan for the race phase is really important for people having a rough idea about what training pace they're going to be using.
