The Importance of Representative Design in Coaching

In a one on one session with an athlete, if you don't move exactly like the defender, there's this thing called representative design. So as a coach, can you manipulate the constraints? Can you change it to where it is a little bit more representative for the athlete? Maybe instead, if I can't move as fast, maybe I tighten the space so the athlete has less room to maneuver in that situation and make a quicker decision.
