If you are recovering from a stress fracture and do have permission to start returning to exercise, you need to be symptom free. It can't be that less than four out of 10 during activity and the 24 hour response, it just needs to be zero,. That's the safest approach because the risk of getting it wrong can be quite high. Sometimes in the early days, it can really mask a rate as a soft tissue injury which is why when you interview people that have had stress fractures, it's picked up really far down the track. If I had a client that had two stress fractures in the past and they're now complaining of pain around their shins, I'd probably get them scanned
