Episode 47A - How much sodium do I need to replace during exercise? | Dr Alan McCubbin
Fueling Endurance - Nutrition for Runners, Cyclists & Triathletes
How Much Do You Need to Replace Your Sulfate During Exercise?
Is this a health thing or a performance thing? It's potentially a little bit of both but I guess we need to start to think about well what are the situations where actually replacing you know 70 to 80% of your sweat fluid losses is important or necessary and generally it's in the longer events. As you increase the duration of exercise you need to replace a higher proportionyou need to get closer to that 100% fluid replacement in order to keep yourself from being severely dehydrated so if you're not having any sodium two things are going to happen either you have to drink less to maintain your osmolality or you're going to become more dehydrated.
