The security council currently has 15 members, 10 rotating and five permanent. The core question is whether it's possible to expand the number of permanent seats on the body. Four countries got together in 2005 to make a big push to win permanent seats of their own. In recent times, especially because there's a lot of attention to African positions over Russia's war on Ukraine, the Africans feel that they have some momentum for that claim.
